Monstera Deliciousa also known as Cerimanis an unusual vine that is native to wet forests of southern Mexico, Guatemala and parts of Costa Rica and Panama. Its leaves are round and heart shaped with a interesting holes within their leaves.  The plant is a fast-growing, stout, herbaceous vine, spreading over expanses of ground and forming extensive mats if unsupported. Tolerant to a variety of soils. Monstera flourishes best in well drained, rich loam.  Indoors it makes a nice houseplant.  If given the opportunity it is a vigorous climber, and will grow over 30 feet with a powerful aerial root system.  Monstera Deliciosa is more than just a source beautiful foliage, and also is acclaimed for its exotic fruit. The fruit has been described as containing a flavor no unlike a combination of pineapple and breadfruit. Monstera Deliciousa should only be consumed when the fruit is ripe and soft because immature fruits are toxic.
